Tsunami Warning

Saturday night, and all was calm.  I had finished mowing the lawn and vacuuming the house and Tom was here visiting with Lynn.  I went over to the nearby grocery store to pick up some fresh veggies and some ice cream; talked to Lance on the phone for a few minutes.  I got home around 8pm and was starting to fix some dinner when Ligita Buckingham knocked on our door to let us know there is a Tsunami Warning and we needed to prepare to leave.  Get some snacks and water, medications, and bedding if we wanted and get in the car and head for higher ground.  She said this area goes up to the Hauula building on the hill.  We've never been there.  We proceeded to get things together and head out.

We were going to go look for that chapel but decided instead to head for the Laie Temple because that is where the Laie and BYU wards go and we were familiar with the area.  Lynn is on the High Council of the Young Single Adult Laie First Stake so we should go there anyway.

It was really something to see everyone leaving from the Polynesian Cultural Center (PCC) at 8:30 at least an hour early.  

As we got closer to the Temple we thought, why would we go sleep in the car when we can hang out at Elder and Sister Malm's place across from the Temple.  So I called them and they didn't even know about it.  But they said come on up, so we did.  

It was good. we had dinner together and watched a movie (TV coverage of the pending Tsunami and evacuation of Waikiki.)

IT all ended well and we returned home at midnight, 1-1/2 hours before the all-clear was issued.

The next morning, Sunday, was our Stake Conference at the Cannon Activities Center at 10:00am.  We had been ask to give the prayers so we got there about 9:45 and there were no cars, almost no people.  Except for one that came over and in broken english explained that Stake Conference was cancelled.  

So here we were all dressed up and no where to go.  

Except Laie point. Beautiful day after the Tsunami Warnings.

Our new Beach front home

We have 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. one on each end of the house.  This is either the front or the back but it faces the water.  Janet Gaynor was the owner that the beach was named after; although the name has several alias'.

This is our back yard,  it is fabulous.

This is the back or front of the house and this side faces Kamehameha Hwy.  It has a huge front yard and back yard.  The address is 55-643 Kam Hwy. Laie, HI.
